The Belair Bath and Tennis Program features eight courts; six are lighted year-round for your enjoyment with beautiful surrounding grounds. We offer FREE lessons for adults and youth. There is plenty of tennis for all levels of play. Your membership includes: lessons for adults and youth/juniors, inter-pool team competition for youth and men; annual tournament, and several tennis socials and men's and women's doubles nights.  
 
ADULT Program: Instructor, Marjorie Collins
 
Monday is men's night beginning at 6 pm starting May 4, 2009. Drop in and play with Bowie's finest! All levels can play.

Thursday is ladies' night beginning at 6:30 pm starting May 7, 2009. Drop in and have some fun. All at welcome!

Adult group lessons beginsTuesday May 5th and runs through Tuesday July 27th.
Beginner lessons are held from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Intermediate lessons are held from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Advanced lessons are held from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
No prior registration is necessary and all adults are welcome.
 
Private lessons: For those who want to improve even more, Marjorie is also available for private lessons. Just give her a call.
 
MEN'S INTER-POOL TEAM COMPETITION: BBT fields 2 men's teams: an "A" team and a "B" team. Members wanting to play should contact team captains identified on the tennis web site.

CHALLENGE LADDER: The challenge ladder offers singles and doubles competitive opportunities within the pool. Ladder positions serve as one basis for selecting inter-pool team members and seeds for the club tournament.

ANNUAL CLUB TOURNAMENT: Sign-up sheets for the various events of the summer tournament will be posted on opening day. Events are open to all adults and youth 15 years and over. Those choosing to play in the Youth Tournament are NOT eligible to play in the Adult Tournament.
 
 
YOUTH Program: Instructor, Bob Groves
 
General
The 2007 Youth Tennis Program will be run by Bob Groves. He will provide Free youth tennis lessons, “A” Team travel competitions with local pools, in-house “B” team competitions and to top it off, an end of the season tournament and trophies party. Come join the fun!
 
Youth Tennis Lessons:
The youth tennis program will include FREE lessons and instructions, including preparation, set up and take down. There will be youth lessons in three two-week sessions from Monday through Friday beginning June 20th, and ending July 31st. There will be four one half hour classes per day with each day’s lessons divided into five groups.
 
5-6 years old
7-8 years old
9-10 years old
11-12 years old
13 years old and older

 
Tennis Lessons Schedule: They are offered in three 2-week sessions.

Session I -- June 22 – July 3
Session II – July 6 -- July 17 
Session III -- July 20 -- July 31

The Instructor may modify age groupings for the benefit of the program.

Tennis Sign Dates:
 
5/30           Tennis Lesson Sign-ups   (10:00 - 12:00noon)
6/2 & 6/4   Tennis Lesson Sign-ups (6:15 – 7:30pm)

Go to the snack bar area.  Swim and Tennis have sign ups at the same time.
 
Youth Tennis Team:
In addition, the instructor will provide FREE instruction to the youth tennis teams, during the six weeks of youth lessons. The instructor will schedule, attend, and coach on-site youth tennis team matches during the period from June 20th – July 31, 2006. The 2009 Tennis Program will have an “A” and “B” youth tennis team. The “A” Team is for the more advanced tennis player who will compete with local tennis teams in the area. The “B” Team is for all abilities who can’t travel or who may not be at a higher level. This will provide the opportunity for all members to participate. 
 
Youth Ladder and Tournament
The Instructor will supervise the BBT youth ladder and tournament. The tournament will be held during the last week of July with a trophy presentation.
 
Sign-up for Youth Lessons and Tennis Team:
Sign-up for Free Youth Tennis Lessons and Tennis Team will take place during the same time that swim team has sign ups. A separate table will be available. No sign up sheet will be posted for youth lessons until sign ups are complete. They will be posted on the breezeway bulletin board. Rosters for each session will be posted prior to the start of each Session. Each session is grouped by age. Sign-up schedule is listed below. Come say “hello” to Bob Groves. He will be in the Snack Bar area.
 
 
Tennis Courts: Tennis courts are available for use by the members during the off season up to 10pm. Courts will also be available for members during lessons and tennis team practice. The tennis entrance gate will be locked. Please remember to bring your key and turn off the lights if you leave early. We ask that all members please take care of the facility and use it responsibly. Also, please dispose of any trash in the receptacles upon leaving the courts. Please remember you court etiquette and court rules. 
 
Tennis Keys: You will need a key in order to enter the tennis courts when the pool is closed. Prior to the official opening of the pool contact Carole Schmidt at (301) 262-9271 to purchase a key. After the pool opens, keys will be available at the front desk at a minimal charge. Please remember THE GATE SHALL BE KEPT LOCKED AT ALL TIMES.
